ACNS Statement on Equality, Diversity, and Social Change

Recent events, the ongoing demonstrations, and Black Lives Matter protests remind us that racism and inequality are not only due to aberrant behavior of a few, but based on widespread institutional and societal problems. These same racial biases undermine healthcare of minorities and should not be who we are as a nation, and it is not who ACNS is as a diverse organization.

Over the past several years, ACNS has actively sought to improve diversity among its membership and in its leadership ranks. We all, however, have a long way to go.

ACNS will continue to devote itself to improving its diversity footprint, equalizing opportunities in research, scholarship, and leadership within our organization. We stand with those striving for social changes, and support the freedom to speak and to debate upon which this nation’s democracy has been built.
