Action Alert: Take Action Now to Support Improvements to Prior Authorization in Medicare

The Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act (S. 3018/H.R. 3173) is bipartisan, bicameral legislation that seeks to improve care for seniors by streamlining and strengthening the way Medicare Advantage plans use prior authorization and increasing oversight and transparency around prior authorization.  Introduced by Reps. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Ami Bera (D-CA), and Larry Bucshon (R-IN) in the House and Senators Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), John Thune (R-SD) and Roger Marshall (R-KS) in the Senate, the bill establishes several requirements and standards to improve the prior authorization process for Medicare Advantage plans.

As we near the end of the 117th Congress’ legislative session, ACNS needs your help to gain support for this important bill in the Senate so that it can be included in an end-of-year legislative package.

Please reach out to your Senator today and ask them to co-sponsor the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act.  We have drafted a template message for you to send to your Senators, and we have provided the staff name and contact information for sending your message. If your Senator has already co-sponsored the bill, please do not send them a message asking them to sign on.  A list of existing co-sponsors can be found here.

Thank you for your willingness to take action!
