Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Research Consortium (NIOMRC)
Mission Statement
The purpose of the Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring Research Consortium (NIOMRC) is to provide a forum for collaborative research in the field of neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring (NIOM) and to promote quality improvements and standardization of the clinical practice of intraoperative monitoring. There has been a long-standing tradition of experts in the field of NIOM performing and publishing their research, although there has been a need to foster collaboration, address gaps, and consider more ambitious projects that would strengthen the field. Large prospective cohort multisite studies and randomized trials have been lacking in the NIOM field. These types of trials would establish the overall value of NIOM to payers and the medical community and improve patient outcomes in surgical procedures in which NIOM is performed or could be performed.
